Prof. Polla Roux is a specialist Ophthalmologist with a great passion and talent for his profession, which are sought out from patients around the world. He has a rich history of improving vision and function to patients referred from other colleagues nationally and internationally.
Prof. Roux completed his MBChB in 1977 at the University of Pretoria and was appointed as consultant ophthalmologist at Kalafong Hospital in 1989. Thereafter he became the head of the Department of Ophthalmology at Pretoria University, and the Professor & Chief Consultant at the Pretoria Academic Hospital. During his 21-year tenure he acquired extensive experience in a wide field of ophthalmology. In 2012 he entered private practise.
His areas of expertise include refractive surgery, cornea transplants, cataracts, diabetes, macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal detachments and the full spectrum of ocular surgery including oculoplastics, orbital and lacrimal surgery.
Prof. Roux is a nature lover and enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and family, enjoying what nature has to offer.
